Stabat Mater

Composer Jean-Jacques Rousseau called the opening of Pergolesi’s Stabat Mater "the most perfect and touching duet to come from the pen of any composer" and Edmonton audiences can experience why this was the most performed classical work in the 18th Century.

Now, 285 years after its composition, we invite you to join the performers onstage as Jennifer Tarver directs this choreographed performance of Pergolesi’s music accompanied by special musical guests. This brand new production, will also feature two company singing debuts, UK countertenor Magid El-Bushra, and soprano Mireille Asselin.
